A full day of events will lead up to Farm Aid Eve on Friday, September 12, 2014.
A series of farm tours will then depart from Person Street Bar at 10:00 AM. Three different tours, ranging in cost from $15 to $20, will explore Vollmer Farm and Cypress Hall Farms, two area farms that successfully transitioned into organic farming; Operation Spring Plant and issues facing local African-American farmers; and urban farming in the capital city with Raleigh City Farm and the Interfaith Food Shuttle. Lunch will be provided at each.
Finally, Farm Aid Eve will bring together farmers, musicians, and activists with music by Asheville bluegrass band Red June and a meal by local dining maven Ashley Christensen. This event will take place in Raleigh’s recently restored Nehi Bottling Company on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh.
Space is limited and registration is required for each event via the Farm Aid website through Sept. 5. (The evening Farm Aid Eve event is already sold out, but donations will still be accepted.)
