The conference seeks to improve community health by getting locally farmed food into school cafeterias and classrooms. Educators, parents, health workers, and child nutrition professionals are invited to attend a full day of workshops. Topics range from the policies and procedures necessary to sustain a local food program, to lesson plans to promote student engagement.
ASAP’s Growing Minds Farm to School program has been working since 2002 to bring fresh food into the classroom via school gardens, farm field trips, cooking demonstrations, and cafeteria options:
Farm to school programming connects classrooms, the cafeteria, and the community—helping children develop healthy relationships with food and enriching the overall educational experience for children and adults alike.
